Weeding Your Garden? Keep A Reference Handy!

If you need to weed your garden, keep a reference at hand to make certain you're not inadvertently pulling up plants you want to grow. Depending on the stage of growth many weeds can look like helpful vegetation and many desired plants may look like weeds.

A good resource to acquire: "Weeds of North America," by Richard Dickinson and France Foyer. (University of Chicago Press, 2014.)

Or simply keep a smartphone handy and search for images of known weeds (this may be less reliable). You'll save yourself from impeding the growth of your garden by successfully removing the only the "bad" plants.
