If you're a watermelon fan, you should search out a few old-fashioned seeded varieties. Many people only know the more modern seedless watermelons. This is a case where consumer love of convenience (i.e., not needing to pick out seeds) drove many growers to abandon some varieties. But what we gained in eating ease, we lost in flavor as modern seedless varieties do not have the flavor range of old-fashioned watermelons. Take it from a fruitarian connoisseur. If you get the chance to try Black Diamond watermelon or even the Fiesta watermelon go for it.
